When ladies find true vintage clothing
to wear to Dapper Day weekend, they
always attract attention. This mother
and daughter wore vintage clothing
and the hair styles to match. They
love all things retro, and work hard to
make their outfits true to the era they
want to portray. The mother’s outfit
was a brand that Joanie’s mother
wore when she was younger. It was a
high end clothing line called Lilli Ann,
and very desired by working women
who could afford to dress nicely.
Jessica and her parents, Kevin and Jean, are always the absolute picture
of perfection in their vintage clothing. Jessica makes her outfits and
helps her parents complete their outfits to be in true character. Jessica
is a wonderful seamstress and a bit of a clothing historian, so we always
know that they will look outstanding.
There is never a break in the sighting of lovely ladies during Dapper Day
weekend. Styles vary greatly, and we often see familiar faces dressed in
new looks. Since Joanie sews her outfits, sometimes she sees dresses she
has sewn in the past, interpreted in new fabrics by another seamstress
and looking just as pretty. We always enjoy seeing someone else’s take
on a classic silhouette.
When a group decides on a “theme” for dressing together, the creativity
abounds. This group decided to dress like the movie Grease, and they
did a wonderful job. I’m not sure we got an exact count of how many
were in this group, but they did a wonderful job. The girls were wearing
poodle skirts, white blouses and ponytails, and these men that were
with them all looked like they could jump on a motorcycle and ride
away.
We love seeing couples coordinate their looks.
They always look so cute together.
We always find families who attend Dapper
Day together. They love telling how they
came up with the idea for their “look” and
where they found the clothing and
accessories.
Millie was given peacock
feathers by a friend, and
fashioned her dress to
include those feathers.
Some of us aren’t
blood relatives, but
Crystal has become
Joanie’s Disney
Daughter, and they
always get their photo
together.
Ludwig, Brandy and their twins
MacKenzie and Reagan
Jason and Alexandra
Scott had no idea what to do with the baby
from the carriage. At one point he was
holding it by one leg. Thank goodness it’s
just a doll!
People stand in line to get their picture taken with the Dapper Day banner.
Originally we made them just for our use, but we have people requesting
weeks ahead that they want to get their photo with the banner, so we try
to accommodate them if time permits.
Somehow these Dapper Day
banners have become an
important part of many
people’s Dapper Day
experience.
