Welcome to Dapper Day
Dress just like the old days.
Twice a year you get to see friends and very cool clothing.
The night before Dapper Day weekend, or Dapper Day eve as it has
become known, is a time for people to gather and begin to get
acquainted, or reacquainted with friends. Dapper Day eve is a casual
gathering of folks, dressed in vintage clothing and enjoying the
coolness of the evening. Officially it only lasts for about 3 hours, but
unofficially people begin gathering a couple hours ahead and then
spend time dancing, having dinner and drinks, attending a “fashion
show” at one of the sponsor’s shops, taking advantage of special
offers from the merchants or just walking around Disney Springs
through the later evening hours. People are already complimenting
each other on their attire and the imagination they have put into their
evening wear. They are also checking with friends to see where they
might find them during the next two days in the parks.
Because this is strictly an evening event, we will often see very formal
attire. Some of the attendees go all out looking their absolute dapper
best. Others lean more toward the more casual, but still dressy looks
and some dress very vintage for the evening. Accessories are a must,
and we continue to see walking canes, top hats, scarves, gloves and
vintage jewelry. It is truly a feast for the eyes. And of course, the
photographers are out in full force looking for the very best.

The City Councilman would tell people walking by, in a very loud voice, ” Keep quite, the baby is sleeping.” Not sure
what was going on with the megaphone either. But every one loves the pram and looking inside. If you have a baby for
the pram let us know so we can take it next time. We love to include babies in the pictures with the carriage.
We are not sure if Ann P has more selfies or if John does. Both love to take
them and do a wonderful job. You look like a pro, John.
Sometimes even the
photographers get into
the photos, and we love
it when they do.

All the wonderful people
showed up in their finery, and
all looked absolutely amazing.
We love Dapper Day because
the style is entirely up to the
individuals and their own
taste. Everyone goes all out
to find the perfect style and
accessories to express their
own personality. Couples do
their best to carry their theme
to perfection.
Because this was springtime, many of the people in attendance wore pastels and spring colors. Yellow seemed to
be the order of the day, but other pastels were in noticeable prominence, too. Families are always welcome, and
we all love seeing them dressing in similar clothes, colors or styles. It is always such a pleasure to see the creativity
of individuals as they gather to show off their looks. And nearly everyone loves to tell the story of their inspiration,
or share tips and tricks to get the “look” they have achieved. Many of the ladies, and a few of the men, sew their
own clothing, so often you’ll hear people discussing the patterns they used, or where they obtained their fabrics.
Dapper Day lends itself to sharing a lot of information.
This year the steam engines weren’t running
because of some building being done in Magic
Kingdom, but one of the trains was parked at the
train station and available for photo opportunities.
It made a great gathering place, and allowed for
some really wonderful photos.
Wherever there is a good place for photos, you will see groups gather. Because so many of us know
each other from different events, we manage to find groups to take pictures with. Many of the
people attending will help each other with poses or help arrange clothing or hair to get the best looks
possible for everyone. During Dapper Day weekend, photographers are everywhere, and they are
almost always willing to take a photo of an individual, a small group or a family. The good ones will
even suggest poses to get your very best look in a picture.
